The Wave, Muscat Signs Agreement with Dubai Golf to Operate Oman’s First PGA Greg Norman Golf Course

The Wave, Muscat has signed an exclusive agreement with Dubai Golf, an internationally acclaimed leisure subsidiary owned by Wasl Asset Management Group, to operate the nation's first 18-hole PGA Links Golf Course designed by the legendary Greg Norman, which is expected to be completed and open for play at the end of this year.

The framework for the agreement was finalized during a ceremony that was held at the Course's 14th hole which entails full administration services and operation of the various facilities and amenities, including the Academy and Club House.

Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO of The Wave, Muscat stated, "Our partnership with Dubai Golf is a fundamental component of our long term vision that aims at providing our community with unmatched lifestyle options that visibly raise local benchmarks. The agreement comes at a pivotal point as we make substantial constructional progress on one of our most highly anticipated assets and approach the completion stage. We are confident that Dubai Golf's technical expertise and international track record in operating some of the region's most prestigious courses will further support our efforts in effectively promoting sports tourism and providing Oman with the ultimate golfing experience."

Lenarduzzi highlighted that The Wave, Muscat is committed to the highest delivery standards in the industry with a holistic approach to community living through residential, commercial leisure and sports offerings.

Abdulla Al Shidi, Deputy CEO of The Wave, Muscat added, "In years to come, the Greg Norman golf course will become a symbol of the nation's passion for sports and is envisaged to host some of the world's top golfing events including the revered PGA and World Golf Championship Tournament. We have prioritized popularizing the sport for residents and visitors from the onset, and have begun implementing dynamic hospitality training programs for Omanis to assume numerous positions at the golf course."

He added that the annexed golf academy will play a pivotal role in encouraging young players, school kids, Omanis and residents of the country to play the game. "We are certain this prestigious golf course and academy would boost our efforts in promoting golf in the Sultanate and maintain sustainability of its practice in the country."

Based on US PGA standards and at a length of 7,000 yards, the course blends seamlessly as a natural component of the landscape and is designed to capture the true essence of the surrounding environment, producing a challenging course of varying hole lengths and configurations.

Capitalizing on The Wave, Muscat's ideal location in the heart of the capital, all holes of the links-style course will enjoy direct ocean views with several holes lying directly adjacent to the sea. In line with The Wave, Muscat's principles of sustainable development and responsible tourism, the golf course is environmentally friendly and applies sustainable techniques for recycling water. It also adopts a minimalist and least disturbance approach to avoid damage to the natural landscape and wildlife.

The golf course will feature a floodlit 9-hole par-3 academy course, a driving range and short game practice facility, an Academy offering tuition, pro-shop and a restaurant along with a dedicated Club House catering to the needs of golfers across all levels.
