April Monthly Medal
Almouj Golf saw the worst conditions of the year so far on the
morning of the 19th April, however by the time the first
group teed off in the April Monthly Medal the weather could not
have been more sublime. The golf course stood up well to the heavy
overnight rain with little or no sign of what had occurred earlier
in the day.
As Almouj continues to move towards its full 18 holes the
competitors were faced with 7 holes from the front and 7 holes from
the back 9 making up the par 56 14 hole course.
Teeing off in the first group of the day were Rob Edwards and
Aaron O'Hara, both returning a gross 65 which was not bettered
throughout the day. It was ultimately Rob Edwards who took the
honours with a better back 7 holes of 32 strokes against O'Hara's
The clear winner in the Men's net division playing off a course
handicap of 24 was John Petersen, his 56 coming in 4 strokes better
than a large group of players scoring net 60.
Making a regular visit to the winner's podium in the Ladies
division was Sarah Morris whose steady round of gross 68 playing
off a course handicap of 17 produced a fine net 55.
The returned scores for the day will be entered into the OGC
Order of Merit where players within a club can measure their
performance not only against fellow members but also those who play
at one of the other clubs within Oman. The updated order of merit
will be released by the OGC shortly.
The next event on Almouj Golf's calendar is the St Georges
Stableford on the 27th April, entries will close at
midnight on the 22nd.
