Hole in One

This month Almouj Golf, Oman's first signature course designed by renowned golfing legend Greg Norman, celebrated another first: its first hole in one.

Achieving a hole in one is every golfer's aspiration, and Almouj Golf club member, Mr Marcus Jee Woong Kim, made his hole in one on the par 3, 13th hole on the Championship course.  It was a 160 yard shot and Mr Kim used a 7 iron. To mark the occasion, St John Kelliher, General Manager of Almouj Golf, presented Mr Kim with a Taylormade Burner driver signed by the legendary Greg Norman.

Clearly a huge personal achievement, Mr Kim said of his shot:

"I am delighted that not only did I make the hole in one, which is every golfer's dream, but also that I have set a first for Almouj Golf. I will of course be returning to try and add to my own record with another hole in one."

Commenting on the hole in one, St John Kelliher, General Manager at Almouj Golf, said:

"It is a great achievement and a very special moment when you make a hole in one.  It was only a matter of time before this piece of history at Almouj Golf was written and I congratulate Mr Kim on his personal success and his place in Almouj Golf's history books. We are very happy to celebrate this first and we encourage others to come and play, adding to our hole in one hall of fame".

Inspired by Oman and designed by Greg Norman, the 7,342 yard Championship course at Almouj Golf boasts the first-of-its-kind Academy run by three PGA qualified instructors and features a state-of-the-art swing studio, golfing fashion and equipment boutique, as well as a restaurant and flood-lit driving range with private teaching bays. All 18 holes are expected to open to the public during the second quarter of this year. Since its debut in December 2011, Almouj Golf has become highly regarded as a 'must-experience' landmark in the Sultanate, setting new standards in the golf and hospitality industry.
