Muscat, September 24 2012 - Last week, Almouj Golf hosted the inaugural Monthly Medal competition sponsored by The Chedi Muscat, the first of 12 monthly golf competitions in association with The Chedi Muscat which will run throughout 2012 and 2013 golfing season.

The Almouj Golf course was in very good shape for the first of the series of competitions, with the harsh summer temperatures easing and a breeze coming in from the Sea of Oman. The pin placements proudly displayed The Chedi Muscat emblem and were challenging, as you would expect for the marque monthly competition where the score is kept by counting strokes per round and totaling them to find the winning score of lowest strokes.

Troy Hart, Vice-President of Asset Management at The Wave, Muscat, commented: "We are delighted to have the support of The Chedi Muscat for our Monthly Medal competitions, and we believe that the standing and reputation of The Chedi Muscat with the world-class quality of Almouj Golf is a perfect match. We are truly proud of the association and of what it allows us to offer to our Almouj Golf membership."

York Brandes, General Manager at The Chedi Muscat, said: "Almouj Golf and The Chedi Muscat both provide an unrivalled lifestyle experience. Our exclusive partnership for the Monthly Medal competitions at Almouj Golf is another way in which we can give the best of the leisure world to Almouj Golf members, The Chedi Muscat guests and visitors."

In the first competition's net division Robert Daniel, playing off a handicap of 8, took the honours with a fine net 72 which placed Lee O'Donoghue into second with a close net score of 73. Aaron O'Hara secured six successive pars on the back nine to take the gross title with a solid 78.

The ladies division was well contested and an in-form Yvonne Welling took the prize with a net 73 after a very well-played back 9 which put Catherine Shackleton's close score of net 74 into second.

Jamie Wilson recorded the only "two" of the day and as such was the happy recipient of the substantial pot of Titleist golf balls. This achievement was made even more impressive as his "two" came at hole number 2, Almouj Golf's longest Par 3 hole measuring over 200 yards.

The Chedi Muscat Monthly Medal will be played each month over the rest of 2012 and 2013 at Almouj Golf, Oman's only signature 18 hole PGA standard links course.

The Chedi Muscat also offers a three-day, two-night all-inclusive golf experience including two rounds of golf at Almouj Golf and spa treatments at The Spa at The Chedi. Accommodation is in the Serai or Deluxe and comprises use of myriad hotel services and facilities including the largest spa in Muscat and longest lap pool in the country, perfect for relaxing after an Almouj Golf round.
