THE OPEN RED WHITE AND BLUE STABLEFORD JULY 2013
July 20th 2013 - To mark the third major tournament
in the golfing world calendar, Almouj Golf hosted our own
tournament in the form of a Red, White and Blue Stableford.
The competition was run as an individual progressive stableford
event, rotating the three different coloured teeing grounds over
the course of 18 holes. Both men and ladies played from the
same tee boxes each hole with the ladies receiving three additional
courtesy strokes to their course handicaps.
In theory the holes played from the red tees should have been
the easier of the bunch, however this wasn't the case for third
placed Geetesh Tamse who's run of form on the back nine holes with
a birdie on the par 4 13th after driving the green
carded 35 points. Quite the opposite round was had by Ahmed
Kamel who claimed second spot, edging Geetesh with 36 points, put
together a solid front 9 of 20 points only to slip somewhat on the
closing holes opening the gap for the winner. An impressively
consistent round from Roger Beaumont, secured the win, scoring on
every hole to total 40 points. Following the game plan, Roger
took advantage of the shorter holes with the majority of his 3
point holes coming from the red teeing ground.
The top 10 scores were as follows:
