As the regular golfing season draws to a close Almouj Golf held its first ever Tournament of Champions where the winners of the seasons The Chedi Muscat Monthly Medals all competed for the auspicious title of theChampion of Champions.

Tournament Of ChampionsEach month from September onwards Almouj Golf has held a Monthly Medal supported by The Chedi Muscat, in these events the best gross score, men's net score and ladies net score are rewarded with a trophy. As a culmination of these monthly events the Tournament of Champions is an opportunity to find out who is the 'best of the best'.

From the field of 25 players there were 11 competitors who could take the coveted title which would be awarded based on the net score, for the other 14 players there were the usual prizes on offer for the best gross, net and ladies net as well as refreshments after play provided courtesy of The Chedi Muscat's generous support.

The course presented its usual challenge to the competitors but the conditions, although hot, were favourable for scoring. Taking the early lead was 13 handicap Ahmed Kamel Mahmud whose exploits in the evening Par 3 League were obviously paying off as he made his way to a gross 86, net 73. Closely following Ahmed were fellow Par 3 League competitors John Petersen and Iain Watters who recorded a net 75 and 76 respectively. Although these scores placed the players atop the leaderboard they were not eligible for the Tournament of Champions title as they hadn't previously won a medal. The player who ultimately took this honour was 10 handicap Kevin D'Amours whose gross 83, net 73, beat Ahmed Kamel Mahmud into runner up spot courtesy of a countback over the last 3 holes making him the Champion of Champions for 2013.

Kevin not only secured the Champion of Champions trophy but was also the best net score on the day meaning that he took the best net title with Ahmed Kamel Mahmud finishing as runner up. The best ladies net was scored by the ever consistent Yvonne Welling who recorded a gross 102 playing off a handicap of 20 for a net 82. The best gross score of 80 was posted by 2013 Men's Club Champion Tenzin Tsarong who as a previous medal winner also took the runner up Champion of Champions trophy.
