Welcome To The Members Area
Sabri Al’ Mandhari
Our Club Captain
Dear member and guest,
I have the pleasure and honor to be nominated and selected to be the 2018 club men’s captain at Al Mouj Golf Club. Ever since the first time I picked up a golf club at a later stage of my life, I have been addicted to this great game and the fact that my beautiful wife Emma plays the golf, it has made playing this game even more enjoyable. Although the number of lost balls I have donated to the course has been more than I can count, I still seem to find areas on the golf course that I never knew existed while desperately searching for my golf ball hoping the provisional isn’t needed.
As members, my wife and I have built strong friendships with good people and enjoy their company on and off the course. Even after a tough day at the office the members create a competitive yet friendly atmosphere that makes the club unique in many ways yet familiar to the way of life here in Oman. This atmosphere has been fostered by the previous club captains with internal competitions, members days away as well as interclub competitions held against other local and regional clubs. I hope to be able to continue the traditions they have left at Al Mouj.
Playing at Al Mouj, it doesn’t take long to realise why the club has been highly rated by many of the club members, visitors and even golf professionals. To top things off early 2018, Yvonne (the ladies captain) and I had another great honor of being the club captains in the first European tour even to be held in Oman at Al Mouj. Being from this great country, it gave me an added sense of pride to hear all the wonderful praise the professional golfers had for Oman and the course which was in pristine conditions thanks to all the grounds men’s hard work.
As members, I hope to be able to serve you in making your experience, no matter you handicap, a great one where you feel part of a club that you chose to call your own. I hope to be as open and approachable no matter your background as your ideas and suggestion will help us make Al Mouj even better than it currently is.
If you are a visitor and happen to be in Muscat, please pay us a visit at the club. The friendly employees at reception and restaurant will surely be there to make your visit as enjoyable as possible as they have made us members feel through the year.
Our Lady Captain
I am proud to introduce myself as Yvonne Middleton the Lady Captain for Al Mouj Golf Club for 2018. We are a family of golfers with a passion for the ‘beautiful game’ no great surprise coming from the West of Scotland where it is often said golf is in our blood. I will be actively ensuring female golf is vibrant and flourishing within the club.
With my children, Eilidh and Crawford both moving onto University I took the opportunity to join my husband Allan here in beautiful Muscat two years ago. I decided this was a good chance to improve my handicap (work in progress unfortunately) On joining, we both very much appreciated the warm; friendly welcome afforded to us from the members, staff and professionals alike.
I have had the privilege of growing up playing on some of the best links courses, which Scotland has to offer. Thanks to Greg Norman, the stunning scenery, lush green grass, water hazards and challenging bunkers of the Al Mouj Championship course is up there with the best of them. It always helps to have the added bonus of Oman sunshine. As a member I have had some wonderful experiences none more than when we host the European Tour.
Following on from the previous good initiatives from my predecessors and working closely alongside my appointed Vice Captain Andrea Jackson I will avidly work to maintain the integrity, standards and ethics of the club. I am keen to encourage inspiring new golfers to build on, not only the ladies section, but the club membership as a whole. I will make great efforts to ensure all members are treated fairly and equally and as such create a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable culture within the club. Your opinions and comments are important and I am here to support in taking any new ideas forward.
Golf is a friendly fun game so I look forward to us all having a happy and successful golfing year ahead.
