On Course with Superintendent Steve Johnson

The golf course maintenance team has been very busy over the summer months and continues to stay on target with our summer maintenance programs.

We have just completed our third hollow coring of all greens surfaces with one final hollow coring and course closure on Sunday 25 August for the Championship course and Sunday 2 September for the Par 3 Course.

Tee’s, fairways and approaches will all receive a two further hollow corings before the end of September.

The team has just completed the restoration of the bunker faces. Since construction all of the bunker faces have naturally altered from their original design so this summer the team has gone in and taken the faces back to their original shapes and contours and in some cases adjusted to suit the contours. We have also added rubber stairs in some of the larger bunkers to assist with access and increase playability.

Through August we will be realigning the cart path on the 5th hole due to the nearby construction works..  The cart path will be moved to the inside of the existing mounds and follow the contour of the lake edge. Whilst these works take place we’ll be direct golfers along the grassed area of the hole and this process will only take place during the working week.

Thanks again for everybody’s patience and understanding whilst these essential works are carried out on the golf course and look forward to seeing you on the course.
